9th National Conference on Creative Psychological Approaches in Teacher Education

Psychology and education are intertwined. The recent advancements in the field creative psychology need to be synchronized with the teacher education. The present teacher centered education should be suitably modified by applying thinking based learner centered education so as to meet the challenges and opportunities. Researchers in the field of educational psychology and educationists are contributing their new way of teaching the teacher educators. Therefore, the conventional method of teaching and learning process should be revamped with innovative approaches by applying recent advancements of creative psychology in teacher education.

The RVS' Amarnath College of Education, Karaikal with the collaboration of Pondicherry Psychology Association is organising 9th National Conference on Recent Trends in Educational Psychology on 19th and 20th May, 2007 at Karaikal. We hope that this conference will become a turning point in the development of a new approach to teacher education, which will carry in it the very best of what modern teacher education and psychological approaches have to offer. We try to explore innovative ideas and creative psychological approaches to apply in teacher education.

Objectives:

  • Exposition of various recent models in creative psychological approaches
  • Exposition of existing practice of psychology based teacher education
  • Exploring the possibilities of designing new curriculum applying creative psychology in teacher education
  • Developing creativity based curriculum for Teacher Education
  • Developing research methodologies innovative models for teacher educators in recent research areas

To achieve the objectives described above, there will be four plenary sessions and four concurrent technical sessions. Each of these sessions will be devoted to one of the main objectives. The plenary sessions will have invited speakers only.

Submission of papers:

Delegates are requested to submit their papers following APA style (refer website: www.jiaap.org for writing a research paper) on any of the listed topics. To ensure a consistent high quality of all the presentations, participants will be requested to submit the full text well in advance and not later than 30th April, 2007. Abstract and paper should be sent by email ( panchramalingam@gmail.com ) or hard copy with CD in MS-Word format only. No TA/DA will be paid to the delegates.

Registration fee:

Rs. 500/-. per participant. The Registration fee should be sent in advance by DD in favour of The President, National Conference 2007, payable at Karaikal. Please note that there will be no new registrations on the spot.

Venue:

Karaikal is situated 150 kms south of Puducherry. It is a part of Union Territory of Puducherry. Puducherry is situated on the Coromandal Coast about 160 kms from Chennai. Every half an hour there are buses from Chennai to Puducherry; the trip takes 3 - 4 hours.

Boarding and Lodging:

Boarding and Lodging for out station delegates will be arranged at the available Guest houses. The rooms will have double occupancy. You can also make your own arrangement in one of the many hotels in Karaikal.

Future Perspectives:

The afternoon of second day of the seminar will be devoted to a reporting session in which the important ideas that transpired during the conference will be highlighted. It should bring the depth and relevance of creative psychological approaches in teacher education into focus and find ways to make it an essential part of teacher education and research.
