BEST PSYCHOLOGIST AWARD 2006

Prof. S. K. DASGUPTA

He did his M.Sc and Ph.D in applied psychology from the University of Calcutta and joined there as lecturer in applied psychology and at present serving as a Professor. He is specialized in organizational and environmental psychology, human resource development and test construction. His present research area includes study of quality of life in Indian perspective. He has published more than 100 research articles in national and international journals as well as in a couple of distinguished books. Quite a good number of research scholars successfully completed their PhD dissertations under the supervision of Professor S.K. Dasgupta.

He is visiting faculty of Vidyasagar University, Bengal Engineering and Science University, Netaji Subhas Open University and Jadavpur University. He is also serving as an expert in various organizations including UGC, UPSC, PSC, WB Central School Service Commission, WB College Service Commission and Academic Staff Colleges.

Prof. Dasgupta is the life member of professional societies and associations like Indian Academy of Psychological Society, Indian Psychological Association, Madras Psychology Society and Indian Society of Criminology, etc. He is also the member of the International Association of Applied Psychology. He is the executive editor, Journal Applied Psychological Issues (Kolkata). He acted as the member , Editorial Advisory Body, Journal of Environmental Psychology, Academic Press, UK (1986-96)

He visited many counties including USA, UK, Japan, Hong Kong, Bangladesh in connection with international conferences and congress, symposia and workshops related to psychology.

BEST EDUCATION AWARD 2006

Prof. I.S. SHARMA

He is holding Bachelor of Teaching, MA in Hindi, PhD in Hindi and Education. He is holding several responsibilities including Member Secretary, National Committee on Language Curriculum, Member, International Reading Association, Member, Indian Association of Teacher Educators, Member, International Association of Social Scientists. He is expertise in preparation of Textual material in languages. His special interest is in total quality management in education, educational administration, languages and literature especially children's poetry, fiction and story writing.

He received his education at the world's tallest centre of educational excellence, the London Institute of Education, London University, London, UK that broadened further the horizons of his personal, academic and professional acumen. He underwent rigorous training in language teaching linguistics in two summer institute organised by the National Institute of education, National Council of Educational Research and Training at the national level.

He is an active resource persons for various institutions such as SCERTs, DIETs, CIE, Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi, DAV College Management Committee, NTPC, Indian Railways, CBSE, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, IGNOU, New Delhi.

He has undertaken several research projects and successfully completed them. He developed games for teaching language at the primary level. Card games for word recognition, word construction and games for vocabulary development were developed to help the teachers in primary classes for teaching language as well as grammar. Play way activities were also developed.

He organized short term in service courses for paper setters, text book writers, textbook evaluation, etc. covering training related to language curriculum area in 32 training courses. Designs and blue prints were developed in the paper setters training courses and in-depth practice was given in the construction of objective based different types (objectives, VSA, SA and Essay) of test items. In the text book evaluation courses tools and techniques were developed and after theoretical training, participants were given practical training by asking them to evaluate few text books of different grades being used in different states.

BEST EDUCATION AWARD 2006

Dr. V. MUTHU
Chairman,
Paavendhar Teacher Training Institute,
Puducherry.

He is holding MA in Tamil and D.Litt. He is holding several responsibilities including President, Tamil Sangam, Cuddalore, His special interest is in developing education, educational administration, languages and literature especially Tamil literature.

He established several educational institutions such as Padaleswarar Polytechnic, Cuddalore, King Nathivarman College of Arts and Science, Thellar, Pallavan College of Engineering, Kanchipuram, Kanchi Pallavan College of Engineering, Kanchipuram and Maruthi College of Engineering, Kanchipuram.

He is a renowned scholar in Tamil literature and thereby contributed to various committees including Bharathiar Birth Centenary Celebrations Committee and Bharathidasan Birth Centenary Celebrations Committee. He received many honours and awards from various organisations.

Prof. A. GNANAM BEST TEACHER AWARD 2006

Prof. N. BALASUBRAMANIAN
Dean, Faculty of Education and Prof and Head,

Bharathiar University,
Coimbatore.

He is holding MA in English, MSc in Psychology, Med, MPhil in Education, PhD in Education and PGDCA. He had rich teaching experience of 27 years. He is holding several responsibilities including Member Board of studies in education and educational technology, Bharathiar University, Saradha college of education, Salem, Annamalai University. Member in the resource group for open and distance learning, National Open School, New delhi, Member net forums of ELTEcs and IFETS.

He developed two computerized question bank in English for the pupils of standard VIII and IX through NCERT and UGC projects. He developed a number of instructional packages availing audio, video and computer media for teaching English, Physics, Biology along with research scholars as well as through sponsored research projects. He developed a programmed learning material in Mathematics through Braille for Blind Children at standard IX.

As the Director of UGC-Academic Staff College of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore organized 50 orientation and refresher courses. In addition he organized 16 special programmes for the teachers.

He attended the British Council's International Summer School on Audio, video and new technologies in Teaching English at the University of Brighton, UK in 1998.

He received AS Hornby Trust Grant to attend the British Council's International Summer School in UK in the year 1998. The British Council Division has also extended financial support to attend the same programme.

His specializations are educational technology, educational psychology, English language teaching, Computer assisted instruction and educational media research.

BEST TEACHER AWARD 2006

Dr. SAROJ AURORA
ICSSR General Fellow,
Department of Psychology,
CCS University, Meerut.

She is holding MSc, Med, and PhD in Psychology. She is well known to the world of education for her distinguished achievements, sociability, mindfulness, liveliness and inculcating team spirit with all qualities of leadership and disciplined follower too. She got teaching experience of about four decades to PG classes in education, HRD and industrial relations with specialization in educational and clinical psychology, personality and parental behaviuor.

She has completed two UGC projects, attained credit of attending 55 national level conferences and seminars. She published more than 60 theoretical and empirical papers in reputed journal and books. She developed ten psychological tests which are in wider use and completed eight PhD thesis. She has contributed four books, notably, Human Behaviour and Organisation Excellence and Dynamics of parental behaviour. She has been associated with many professional associations and journals.

She is the member of International Association of cross cultural psychology, foreign affiliate to APA member, Professional Women's Advisory Board of ABI and Executive Member of Harprasad Bhargava Memorial Educational Society, Agra.

She is the founder member and secretary of Praachi Psycho-cultural Research Association, Meerut, Hon' Director, Madhur Prayas Psychological Centre, Meerut and editor, Praachi Journal of Psycho-Cultural Research Dimensions.

She has the vision to do something significantly and notably to the field of psychology in Indian context and spirit. She also had the privilege to visit various foreign universities such as Berkeley University, Stanford University, University of California, Santa Barbara, California State University, Bakersfield and Los Angles for gaining academic observations and understanding research trends.
